"Due to the many challenges created by the COVID-19 pandemic, the VMBC will not be promoting or sanctioning any local, regional, or state competitions for the 2020-2021 school year.  This does not preclude local bands from competing or hosting their own band contest, it simply will not be sanctioned by the VMBC this year."

Announcement from the Virginia Marching Band Cooperative:

The Virginia Marching Band Cooperative was founded to establish an inclusive community for all student performers, educators, and supporters. Music has the power to build bridges, tear down walls, and connect all people. We recognize the anger, pain, frustration and disappointment that many are facing in light of the continued injustice and violence toward Black people in our country. We are committed to the principles of anti-racism, and believe that we must stand with the Black members of our music education community.

Congratulations to our competing bands!
